Our Story

We didn’t grow up dreaming of building a tea company. But somewhere between burnout and supermarket shelves stacked with stale, soulless brews – we knew something was missing.

Kijicha began as a side project between two friends: one driven by bold ideas, the other a design grad with a sharp eye for storytelling. What brought us together? A shared love for tea – but not the kind your nan drinks.

We became obsessed with flavour.
One of us craved Lapsang Souchong – smoky, punchy, unforgettable.
The other leaned toward Milky Oolong and Earl Grey – creamy, floral, nostalgic.

From there, we fell headfirst into a world of blends, botanicals, and big dreams.

We hated the dusty dregs in commercial tea bags – the kind that looks like it’s been swept off a factory floor. We wanted something better: tea that feels alive. High-quality loose leaf with flavour worth savouring.

Real leaves. Real flavour. Real moments.

So we made our own – a tea brand for Gen Z and millennials. Bold blends. Loud vibes. Zero snobbery.

This isn’t some slick, venture-backed business. It’s a small, honest passion project that we squeeze in between busy day jobs.

We called it Kiji – after the Japanese pheasant, a symbol of rebellion and beauty. Add Cha, meaning tea, and you get what we want every cup to feel like: wild, confident, and unapologetically different.
